Eligiblity Criteria for the Intelligence Bureau Recruitment

Age Limit: Candidates applying for the Intelligence Bureau Recruitment must be between 18 to 27 years old.

Age Relaxation: There is a relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit for OBC/MOBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must meet one of the following educational qualifications:

  • Diploma in Engineering in fields like Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering from a recognized university/institute.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science with specialization in Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics from a recognized university/institute.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Applications from a recognized university/institute.
Examination Fee:

For UR/OBC/EWS candidates: Rs. 500/-
For Female/Other candidates: Rs. 450/-

Selection Process of Intelligence Bureau Recruitment


The selection process for Intelligence Bureau Junior Intelligence Officer posts consists of the following stages:

a) The candidate needs to participate in Tier-I at a designated center. They can choose one of five cities as their preferred center. In this stage, for every wrong answer, a deduction of ¼ mark will be made. No marks will be given for questions that are not attempted. Questions marked as "Mark for Review" by candidates will not be considered for evaluation.

b) To ensure the selection of the best candidates, there will be minimum marks required to qualify the Tier-I exam. The cut-off marks for different categories are as follows: UR-35, OBC-34, SC/ST-33, and EWS-35. Ex-servicemen will be treated separately within their respective categories (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS). c) Based on their performance and the normalization of marks in the Tier-I exam, candidates will be shortlisted for a Skill test and Personal Interview. The number of shortlisted candidates will be five times the number of vacancies, provided they meet the minimum cut-off marks. d) The cut-off marks for Tier-I exam may vary for different categories depending on the candidates' scores and the number of vacancies. The criteria of selecting five times the number of vacancies may also be adjusted due to the Tier-I cut-off. e) A final merit list of 797 candidates for the JIO-II/Tech post will be prepared based on their combined performance in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III exams. f) The final selection for the posts will be depending upon successful completion of Character & Antecedent verification, followed by a medical examination, and other requirements.
