The Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE), Assam, has announced two job notifications for the recruitment of 8,230 Graduate Teachers in Arts, Science, Hindi, and Sanskrit. These positions are available in various Government and Provincialized Secondary Schools under the Secondary Education Department of the Assam Government.

Pay Scale: Rs.14,000 – Rs.60,500 per month, including a Grade Pay of Rs.8,700, along with other allowances as per the rules.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam High School Teacher Recruitment
Nationality: Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam.
Employment Exchange Registration: The candidate's name must be registered in an Employment Exchange.
Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 18 years old and no older than 40 years as of January 1, 2023.
Age Relaxation:
- OBC/MOBC: 3 years
- ST/SC: 5 years
- Ex-Servicemen: 2 years
- PwD: 10 years
Educational Qualification
Graduate Teacher (Arts & Science):
Graduate Teacher (Arts): Candidates must have a degree in Arts or Commerce (Graduate or Post Graduate) from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in either graduation or post-graduation (or its equivalent). Additionally, they must have a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from a National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) recognized institution.
Graduate Teacher (Science): Candidates must have a degree in Science (Graduate or Post Graduate) from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in either graduation or post-graduation (or its equivalent). They must also have a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from an NCTE-recognized institution.
Graduate Teacher (Hindi):
- Candidates must have completed Pravin or Ratna in Hindi with 50% marks, along with a degree (Graduate or Post Graduate) in Arts with 50% marks from a recognized university. Alternatively, a BA degree with Hindi as one of the subjects with 50% marks or a Post Graduate degree in Arts with 50% marks is acceptable, provided the candidate passed BA with 50% marks in Hindi.
- A B.T./B.Ed. degree from a recognized university is also required. (Parangat is considered equivalent to a B.Ed. degree).
Medium of Instruction Requirements
Assamese Medium School:
- The candidate must have passed the HSLC or equivalent examination with Assamese as one of the subjects, or hold a Diploma in Assamese from Axom Sahitya Sabha, or have studied in an Assamese medium school up to the HSLC level.
Bengali Medium School:
- The candidate must have passed the HSLC or equivalent examination with Bengali as one of the subjects, or hold a Diploma in Bengali from Barak Upatyaka Bangya Sahitya O Sanskriti Sammelan, or have studied in a Bengali medium school up to the HSLC level.
Hindi Medium School:
- The candidate must have passed the HSLC or equivalent examination with Hindi as one of the subjects, or have studied in a Hindi medium school up to the HSLC level.
Bodo Medium School:
- The candidate must have passed the HSLC or equivalent examination with Bodo as one of the subjects, or have studied in a Bodo medium school up to the HSLC level.
English Medium School:
- The candidate must have passed the HSLC or equivalent examination with Alternative English as one of the subjects, or have studied in an English medium school from Class XI onwards.

- SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD/Others: Rs. 350/-

Teachers Eligibility Test cum Recruitment Test
Candidates must appear for and pass the Teachers Eligibility Test cum Recruitment Test, which will be announced at a later date. The test will follow the pattern outlined below:
- Pedagogy: 50 marks
- About Assam and its People: 50 marks
- General English: 30 marks
- General Studies and Current Affairs: 10 marks
Total: 140 marks
Common Question Paper:
There will be a single common question paper for all vacancies related to Post Graduate Teacher recruitment, regardless of the subject.
Examination Venue:
The examination venues will be located in the following districts: Cachar, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, and Sonitpur. Candidates must select their preferred examination venue district while filling out the online application form.
Number of Qualified Candidates:
The number of candidates who qualify in the TET cum Recruitment Test will be in a 1:1 ratio with the advertised vacancies.
Merit List:
If any post remains vacant after the publication of the first merit list (following the 1:1 ratio), a maximum of two additional merit lists will be published. There will be separate merit lists for each subject in the case of Post Graduate Teacher positions.

The merit list will be created as follows:
The marks obtained by candidates in the TET cum Recruitment Test for each subject will be separated from the main list into distinct merit lists for each subject. This process will be applied to all subjects.
