Eligibility Requirements for Indian Navy SSR Recruitment


Age Limit : Candidates should have been born between November 1, 2002, and April 30, 2006 (inclusive of both dates).

Marital Status : Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates are eligible for enrollment as Agniveer. Agniveers are not allowed to get married during their entire four-year tenure.

Educational Qualification : Candidates must have successfully completed the 10+2 examination with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects, and at least one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science. The examination should be from a recognized Board of School Education recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The Navy SSR recruitment selection process:

The selection process for Agniveer (SSR) - 02/2023 batch consists of two stages:
  • Shortlisting (computer-based online examination)
  • Written Examination, PFT, and Recruitment Medical Examination

Stage I (INET)

Shortlisting stage is a computer-based examination called INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test) will be conducted nationwide. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their marks obtained in this test. The shortlisting process will be carried out state-wise, as the vacancies have been allocated accordingly.

Here are some important details about the INET examination:

Type of Exam: The exam will be conducted on a computer.

Medium of Exam: The question paper will be available in both Hindi and English.

Total Marks: 100 marks.

Type of Questions: Objective type, with multiple-choice options.

Number of Questions: 100 questions.

Exam Duration: Candidates will have 1 hour to complete the exam.

Question Paper Standard: 12th standard curriculum.

Syllabus: The question paper will consist of four sections: English, Science, Mathematics, and General Awareness.

Negative Marking: Candidates should be aware that there will be a penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers. Each question will have four answer options, and for every incorrect answer, one-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty.

Stage II (Written Exam, PFT and Recruitment Medical)\

Candidates who are shortlisted in the INET examination (computer-based online examination) will receive a call-up letter for Stage II, which includes the written examination, Physical Fitness Test (PFT), and Recruitment Medical Examination. Stage II will be conducted at specific Indian Navy centers. The syllabus for the written exam in Stage II can be found on the official website. It is important to note that an Aadhaar Card is mandatory for Stage II.

Physical Standards: qualifying in the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is a requirement for selection. However, candidates must understand that participating in the PFT is done at their own risk. The PFT has specific standards that candidates must meet, which will be provided to them.

Recruitment Medical Examination: is conducted for candidates who qualify the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Candidates who pass the Recruitment Medical Examination will be considered for the merit list. If a candidate is found medically unfit during the examination, they will be given the option to appeal against the findings within a maximum period of 21 days. However, only appeals made at designated military hospitals allocated by the Indian Navy will be considered. Medical fitness certificates issued by hospitals other than these designated ones will not be accepted. No further review or appeal is allowed after this stage.

The merit: list will be prepared based on the performance in the Stage II written exam, provided the candidates have qualified in the Physical Fitness Test and Recruitment Medical Examination. The merit list for Agniveer (SSR) - both male and female candidates - will be based on state-wise rankings. The cutoff marks for issuing call-up letters for recruitment at INS Chilka may vary from state to state. The merit list will be published on the website https://agniveernavy.cdac.in by October 23rd.
