Eligibility Criteria of Indian Air Force Recruitment

Age Limit:

  • Flying Branch: For the AFCAT (02/2023) recruitment, the age requirement is between 20 to 24 years as of 01 July 2024. This means that candidates should be born between 02 July 2000 to 01 July 2004 (including both dates). However, there is an upper age limit relaxation for candidates who hold a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India). For these candidates, the upper age limit is extended up to 26 years, meaning they should be born between 02 July 1998 to 01 July 2004 (including both dates).
  • Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branches: the age requirement is between 20 to 26 years as of 01 July 2024. This means that candidates should be born between 02 July 1998 to 01 July 2004 (including both dates).

Marital Status:

Candidates must be single at the start of the course and are not allowed to get married during their training.

Educational Qualification:

Flying Branch:

Candidates are required to have achieved a minimum of 60% marks in both Mathematics and Physics at the 10+2 level. In addition, they should meet one of the following educational qualifications:

(A) A minimum of three years' degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

(B) A four-year BE/B Tech degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

(C) Candidates who have successfully cleared the Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Ground Duty (Technical) Branch:

Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics):

Candidates should have achieved a minimum of 50% marks in both Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level. They should also have a minimum of four years' degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from a recognized University. Alternatively, they can clear the Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India, or the Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical):

Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in both Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level. Administration:

Passed 10+2 and Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Accounts Branch:

To be eligible, candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination and completed graduation in any of the following streams with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent from a recognized university.

  • B. Com Degree (Min three years course).
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Management Studies (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Business Studies (with specialization in Finance)
  • Qualified CA/ CMA/ CS/ CFA.
  • B.Sc. with specialization in Finance.

NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch):

To be eligible, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Possession of an NCC Air Wing Senior Division 'C' certificate acquired on or after 01 Dec 17.
  • Minimum of 60% marks in both Mathematics and Physics at the 10+2 level.
  • Graduation with a minimum three-year degree course in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • A four-year BE/B Tech degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Successful clearance of Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
